Bhavna Pandey, who appeared in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, recently opened up about undergoing therapy to cope with the online trolling her daughter, actor Ananya Panday, faced during the early years of her career.
Speaking at We The Women with Barkha Dutt, Bhavna said, “I was in therapy for about a year, maybe a little longer. I still take therapy off and on when I find things I can’t handle on my own.”
Bhavna, wife of actor Chunky Panday, admitted that Ananya’s trolling impacted her deeply. “Her trolling affected me more than it affected her. I was an overly sensitive person, but I’ve become stronger. Even now, I sometimes take therapy during such times. I also talk a lot to Chunky, who is my best friend, but it’s biased sometimes,” she shared.
She revealed that even those around her, including her parents, would often dismiss her anxiety. “They would say, ‘What are you anxious about? You have everything.’ But I still took therapy. I think that was the best decision I made,” she added.
Ananya Panday had previously spoken about her struggles with online trolling during the promotions of Liger. She said, “I don’t think the feeling of being trolled constantly will ever get resolved inside me. There are days when something really affects me. But there are moments when I get over it and feel strong. I think I am just trying to focus more on improving myself as an actor and giving people a chance to doubt me.”
The actor debuted five years ago with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2. This year, she garnered praise for her performances in Netflix’s CTRL and Prime Video’s Call Me Bae, showcasing her growth as an actor.
